New Scania Workshop inaugurated in Lau Fau Shan
Scania officially inaugurated their new workshop in style on 19 November, although the first customers had already started to visit the workshop a few days earlier. “Customer first” always applies at Scania!
“It is simply Hong Kong’s first 5 star workshop and we will now start the process to certify it to the latest and highest Scania standards, the newly introduced Scania Dealer Operating Standard 4. Hopefully it will be one of the first workshops globally in the Scania Group to qualify to that level, says Niklas Olsson, Project Manager Workshop Operations.
Nearly 900 people of all ages attended the event. Throughout the day they could enjoy a variety of entertainments. Besides the nice weather and of course the new workshop, all Scania friends could also enjoy “Avon the Magician”, HK’s largest Bouncy Castle, a Basketball competition and much more.
Scania also introduced a wide range of new products at the opening including:
Scania Ready Built vehicles
Scania Ready Built vehicles are pre-defined and built up vehicles in selected applications and with selected bodybuilders, which can be delivered with no delay to customers. The customer benefit of selecting a Ready Built vehicle is having a minimum lead-time and a top quality vehicle optimized for payload and performance. “Since we can control the bodywork production and vehicle specification process we can therefore feel extremely confident that the finished product will be a top quality Scania product. That is also the reason why we can give our Ready Built customers better warranty terms”, says Pierre Bousquet, Senior Product Advisor. The ready built vehicles are sold with 2 years Maintenance plan included, 2 years Bodywork guarantee and a second year driveline warranty from Scania.
The displayed Ready Built vehicles were:

Scania 5 axles – 38t heavy goods chassis
Scania launched the first 5 axle 38t heavy goods vehicles in Hong Kong. The first chassis arrived to Hong Kong in late October and was type approved in early November. The introduction of a 5 axle chassis and bodywork applications will significantly improve the operator’s earning potential as it offers significant improvement of payload.
“With one 38t vehicle you can depending on application carry the same payload as 2-3 vehicles are doing today. That means actually a far more efficient transport solution, less fuel, reduced environmental impact and lower vehicle related costs, improved payload and revenue. I think that many operators will recognize the benefits, less costs and higher revenues with less damage to the environment, what’s there not to like?" says Andy Ling Sales Director.
New Coach model 3.8m height
The first 3.8m high coach in Hong Kong! The new coach body is made by China Kong and mounted on a Scania K380 chassis . It was presented to the public and to representatives from the happy owner, Eternal East.
Managing Director, Mattias Lundholm, summarized the event saying, “This has been a brilliant day and with a fantastic turnout. We are very proud that our customers recognize and appreciate our efforts to serve them in the best possible way and the feedback I have got today is amazing. Even before opening this workshop, Scania had the best service network and spare parts availability in Hong Kong, and now it is even better! A Scania customer should not expect anything less and we will continue to work hard and to focus on finding even more ways to provide the best uptime, products and services for our customers. The new products presented today, the 38t chassis and the Ready Built vehicles, will greatly improve the earning potential for our customers. It is important that they will make good money with reliable products! I also want to express my gratitude to the Scania team who makes all this possible. Every day they deliver the best and highest service level in Hong Kong and are truly dedicated all the way!”
